Job summary

Align Communications seeks an Assistant Project Manager to support second-shift construction activities for a data center build-out in the Ann Arbor area. This is a field-facing opportunity for someone with construction experience who is ready to take on more responsibility coordinating contractors, tracking progress, and keeping work moving onsite.

Working closely with the lead Project Manager and daytime team, this person will serve as Align’s onsite point of contact during the second shift.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting or supervising onsite construction activities.
• Able to read construction drawings and understand installation requirements.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to follow through on open items and keep the project team informed.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate second-shift construction activities with the lead Project Manager, contractors, vendors, and client representatives.
• Review the planned work with the daytime team and confirm priorities, work areas, material needs, and outstanding issues before the shift begins.
• Walk the jobsite regularly to track progress, identify installation issues, and confirm work follows project drawings, specifications, and site requirements.
• Help coordinate data center fit-out activities, including cabinets, containment, cabling, and power/cooling work.
• Monitor contractor progress against the daily plan and communicate delays or conflicts that could affect the schedule.
• Maintain daily reports, progress photos, issue logs, and punch lists; document field questions for the project team.
• Provide a clear handoff to the daytime team covering completed work, open items, and priorities for the following shift.
