Job summary

Hornblower Corp. seeks a licensed Second Mate to serve as navigation officer aboard one of its training support vessels.

You will maintain charts, prepare voyage plans, and report progress daily to the Master while performing shipboard maintenance as directed. The role requires STCW-qualified credentials, security clearance, and the ability to work in a dynamic maritime environment with strict regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Coast Guard license: Second Mate with VSO/VSPSD, STCW.
  • STCW: OICNW; RFPNW; Basic Training.
  • GMDSS Operator; ECDIS (Unlimited); Lifeboatman.
  • Security clearance: SECRET.
  • Must possess a valid United States Passport.
  • TWIC and CAC eligibility.
  • Microsoft Office and shipboard monitoring software proficiency.
  • Thorough understanding of applicable regulations and laws.
  • Background check and pre-employment drug/alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as navigation officer.
  • Maintain charts and publications.
  • Prepare voyage plans and report progress to the Master.
  • Perform cleaning, painting, and maintenance as directed.
  • Stand navigation watches per operational requirements.
  • Handle additional duties as assigned.
