Job summary

Hornblower Group is seeking a reliable First Mate to assist the Captain in mooring, operating, and maintaining company vessels in a Coast Guard-inspected passenger environment. You will help passengers board and disembark safely and support deck crew leadership and daily ship operations.

The role emphasizes safety, exceptional customer service, and teamwork, with requirements for physical fitness, TWIC and CPR/First Aid credentials, and flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• TWIC credential required
• CPR/First Aid certificate required

Responsibilities

• Stand bridge watch and assist in safe navigation of the vessel.
• Take command if captain becomes incapacitated.
• Clean and maintain vessel.
• Assign deck crew tasks and provide direction.
• Supervise and perform routine shipboard maintenance.
• Load or unload materials and handle lines to moor vessels.
• Operate ship equipment including engines, HVAC, and navigation systems.
• Maintain vessel safety and respond to emergencies.
• Work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
