Job summary

Hornblower Corp. operates Training Support Vessels and seeks a Second Assistant Engineer to support the safe and efficient operation of propulsion and auxiliary machinery. You will assist in maintenance, repair, and monitoring, and participate in both underway and in-port engineering duties as assigned.

You will stand engine room watches, support Chief Engineer and senior staff, and contribute to the readiness of vessel systems and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• MMC with STCW endorsements meeting Chief/Second Engineer Officer level
• USCG Medical Certificate
• TWIC
• Passport
• Ability to work in confined spaces and climb ladders
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to stand rotating watches and respond to emergencies
• Legally authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities

• Support engineering operations and shipboard machinery management
• Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, and troubleshooting on propulsion and auxiliary systems
• Stand assigned engine room watches as Duty Engineer
• Respond as on-call Duty Engineer when in homeport
• Maintain engineering logs and equipment reports
• Follow safety and regulatory procedures
• Assist senior engineers with training junior personnel
• Perform other duties to support vessel readiness
