Job summary

Alpine School District is seeking an Instructional Paraprofessional for a second-grade classroom. The role provides essential support to the instructional program, assisting in supervising, caring for, and instructing special needs students in the resource classroom, and aiding teachers with implementing plans.

Responsibilities include adapting activities, administering basic first aid, assisting with tests and assignments, collecting progress data, and supporting student self-care.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Willingness to complete mandatory employee training within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities and materials under supervision to reinforce objectives and IEP goals.
• Administers first aid and medical assistance as directed by health care professionals.
• Assists in administering tests, homework and make-up work to support teachers.
• Assists data collection to monitor student progress.
• Supports students with self-care tasks to maintain hygiene.
• Assists students individually or in groups with lessons to reinforce learning concepts.
• Attends trainings and meetings to stay informed on job functions.
• Communicates with supervising staff to evaluate progress and implement IEP/504 objectives.
• Models appropriate behavior and supports positive social interaction.
• Implements behavioral plans identified in IEPs under supervision.
• Maintains instructional materials and classroom records and equipment.
• Monitors students across various school environments to ensure safety.
• Performs clerical duties to support efficient operations.
• Provides instruction in a variety of activities to reinforce objectives and ensure student success.
• Reports observations and incidents to appropriate personnel.
• Supervises and escorts students to/from classes for safety.
