Job summary

Harlem Academy is seeking a Second Grade Lead Teacher to implement Benchmark Literacy and Math in Focus curricula and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the school’s mission.

The role requires differentiation for diverse learners, strong communication with families, and collaboration with colleagues to ensure smooth transitions between grades. Experience with tech in education and a commitment to equity are essential.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in Education or a relevant field; Master’s degree preferred.
• At least three years of teaching experience, ideally in a K-5 classroom.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learners.
• Experience using best practices in curriculum development and assessment.
• Digital literacy with Microsoft Office and Google Classroom.

Responsibilities

• Implement Benchmark Literacy and Math in Focus curricula to develop engaging literacy and math lessons.
• Foster an environment where students take risks, solve problems and think critically.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs with individualized support.
• Use various assessment tools to measure progress and provide feedback to students and families.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth transitions between grade levels.
• Maintain strong communication with parents through updates, conferences and feedback.
• Integrate technology to enhance learning and foster collaboration.
• Participate in school community events and extracurricular activities.
