The King and Prince Golf Club is seeking a motivated and collaborative Second Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our golf course maintenance team during an exciting period of transformation.
A full-scale renovation of the golf course began in March 2026 under the direction of Beau Welling Design. The course is scheduled to reopen in Fall 2026 as a private club. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the renovation and grow-in process while helping establish the agronomic standards, team culture, and course presentation that will define the club’s next chapter.
Reporting to the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent, the Second Assistant Golf Course Superintendent provides daily leadership to the Grounds Crew and works closely with the Superintendent, Mechanic Crew, and Golf Operations team.
The successful candidate will help oversee the care and presentation of the golf course, practice facilities, and surrounding grounds. This role also supports agronomic planning, staffing, renovation activities, grow-in, and reopening preparations. The Second Assistant Golf Course Superintendent must be prepared to assume responsibility for maintenance operations in the Superintendent’s absence.
Help coordinate daily golf course maintenance activities and crew assignments
Provide hands‑on leadership, training, and support to Grounds Crew employees
Assist with the renovation, grow‑in, and reopening of the golf course
Support agronomic programs involving warm‑season turf, irrigation, drainage, fertilization, plant protection, and cultural practices
Monitor course conditions and help maintain exceptional playing surfaces and presentation standards
Coordinate with the Mechanic Crew and Golf Operations team to support efficient daily operations
Help promote a safe, respectful, accountable, and team‑oriented work environment
Assist with planning, scheduling, recordkeeping, and regulatory compliance
Serve as a maintenance leader when senior management is unavailable
Associate or bachelor’s degree in turfgrass management, agronomy, horticulture, plant science, or a related field
At least two years of progressive golf course maintenance experience
Previous experience leading or supervising a maintenance crew
Working knowledge of warm‑season turfgrass management, irrigation systems, drainage, fertilizers, plant‑protection products, and cultural practices
Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills
Valid driver’s license
Commercial pesticide applicator license or the ability to obtain one
Experience with golf course construction, renovation, grow‑in, private-club operations, coastal environments, or course reopening is preferred.
