Job description

Job Title: Second Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

Reports to: Golf Course Superintendent

FLSA Category: Exempt/Salary Position

Compensation: $56,000 to $58,000, commensurate with experience, plus bonus

Relocation: The club will provide relocation assistance

Location: The Landings Golf & Athletic Club

71 Green Island Road

Savannah, Georgia 31411

About The Club:

The Landings Golf and Country Club is located 20 minutes from Savannah, Georgia, on Skidaway Island, and, along with a community of over 8,000 residences, encompasses the entire island. In 1974, the Club welcomed its first member and, now with a thriving membership, it offers many sporting and dining amenities, including the choice of playing on any of its six 18-hole championship golf courses.

About the Golf Courses:

The six 18-hole golf courses, all with different designs, offer challenges for the novice to the accomplished golfer and were designed by Arnold Palmer, Tom Fazio, Arthur Hills, and Willard C. Byrd. Over the six courses, there is an array of warm-season grasses, including TifEagle, TifGrand, Celebration, 419, Zorro, Zeon, Empire, El Toro, and Platinum, and cool-season Perennial Ryegrass. Four independent maintenance facilities are located on the property, and the Club has recently partnered with John Deere on a 4-year lease agreement.

The Club prides itself on continuous improvement and has a long-term capital plan comprising all future golf course renovations. Some of the projects include:

  • In 2026, work on the Deer Creek course will include strip/flip of greens, collar replacement, and re-grassing of fairways and tees.
  • In 2027 or 2028, the Terrapin Point course will be fully renovated.
  • In 2030 and beyond, work will begin with phase II of the master plan, including irrigation, cart path replacement, and tees.
Career Trajectory:

The Club’s culture and leadership are about continuous improvement, explicitly developing staff, and promoting from within. This has created a structure and practice where individuals can learn, experience multiple courses, designs, grasses, practices, and shadow senior team members. Additionally, their organizational structure allows Assistants to move up to course superintendent and multi-course superintendent positions. The Club is fully supportive and committed to developing eager and enthusiastic individuals interested in advancing their careers within the Club or assisting individuals in advancing their careers at another facility.
