Job summary

General Motors (GM) is seeking a Design and Release Engineer – Seatbelts at the Warren Tech Center. You will lead end-to-end seatbelt design, development, integration, validation, and release across multiple programs, ensuring safety, cost, and quality alignment.

You will provide technical leadership on architecture, component selection, and issue resolution, while coordinating with styling, manufacturing, validation, and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• Significant experience in automotive design and release engineering, with expertise in seatbelt, restraint, or other safety-critical systems.
• Ability to lead design, development, and integration across complex programs and multiple stakeholders.
• Strong working knowledge of Engineering Release Systems and Teamcenter Visualization.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end design, development, integration, validation, and release of seatbelt systems across vehicle programs.
• Provide technical leadership on seatbelt architecture, component selection, and issue resolution.
• Drive cross-functional alignment with styling, manufacturing, validation, quality, and suppliers.
• Own product definition, release, and engineering change management with documentation control.
• Mentor engineers and lead continuous improvement in design practices and standards.
