Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. is hiring a year-round Block Advisor Tax Advisor to prepare complete tax returns for clients with complex situations, conduct in-depth interviews, and provide personalized recommendations.

This in-person role strengthens client relationships and offers opportunities to identify tax savings and Block Advisors products within a collaborative office environment. The successful candidate will have 5+ years in tax-related work, strong communication skills, and a commitment to ongoing

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping
• Experience preparing complex individual returns and business returns, including tax planning, audit support, and tax notice resolution
• Experience working in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory role
• Must complete continuing education and meet all other IRS and applicable state requirements
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations, including individual and business returns
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations, life changes, and tax implications — then provide clear, personalized recommendations
• Build trusted, year-round client relationships by delivering empathetic, consultative service and identifying tax savings opportunities and relevant Block Advisors products and services
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance to clients as needed
• Collaborate with team members, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment
