Job summary

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) in Morton seeks Winter Highway Maintenance Worker positions for the Southwest Region. These non-permanent, seasonal roles perform outdoor maintenance on highways, lights, signs, and drainage, with some night shifts and emergencies.

Work involves heavy lifting up to 50 pounds, operating a variety of highway equipment, and delivering safe, efficient travel. A valid Class A CDL with N endorsement is required.

Qualifications

• Must hold an unrestricted Class A CDL with N endorsement.
• Experience operating highway maintenance equipment.
• Knowledge of MUTCD traffic control.
• Ability to lead a crew in absence of supervisor.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Perform highway maintenance, asphalt/concrete repair, drainage and erosion control.
• Install and repair signs, guardrails, and related infrastructure.
• Haul materials and maintain inventory at stockpile sites.
• Respond to accidents, spills, and emergencies; set up traffic control.
• Document daily activities and manage records in maintenance systems.
• Ensure safety procedures and participate in PASP training.
