Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a Seasonal Tax Associate for an in-person role at a local Maryland tax office. No prior tax experience is required, as you’ll receive training and work directly with clients to gather information, prepare returns, and answer questions.

You’ll earn a competitive hourly rate with opportunities to grow as you gain tax knowledge, with hours that may include evenings and weekends during peak season.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course.
• Experience interacting with customers in a service-oriented environment.
• Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs.
• Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions.
• Comfort using digital tools and systems including Copilot and ChatGPT.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates
• Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations in a way clients can easily understand
• Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant products and services
• Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address questions or unique situations with guidance and available resources
• Build strong client relationships and support office priorities through teamwork, collaboration, and a client-first approach
