Job summary

The Montana Department of Transportation is recruiting for a full time temporary snowplow driver in Custer with heavy equipment operation experience for winter road maintenance. Duties include snow removal, cleaning the right of way, fixing guardrail, repairing fences, signs, and luminaires, traffic control and salt brine production.

This position requires willingness to work in extreme weather, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• One year of experience driving heavy trucks or operating construction equipment.
• Knowledge of highway maintenance and equipment operation including basic diesel/gasoline vehicle maintenance.
• Basic math, record keeping, computer skills, and the ability to estimate materials needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform snow removal, right-of-way cleaning, and traffic control during winter maintenance.
• Repair fences, signs, luminaires, and fix guardrails as needed.
• Operate salt brine production equipment and manage related tasks.
• Work weekends/holidays and respond to emergencies as required.
