Job summary

Montana Department of Transportation in Custer seeks a Temp Snowplow Driver/Hwy Maintenance Tech to perform winter maintenance, including snow removal, right-of-way cleaning, guardrail repair, signage and luminaire work, and salt brine production.

The role requires 1 year of heavy-truck or construction-equipment operation, a valid Montana Class A CDL with tank endorsement and MEC, and availability for emergencies, weekends and holidays. Work roughly mid-November to April.

Qualifications

• One year experience driving heavy trucks or operating construction equipment.
• Valid Montana Class A CDL (Type II) with no restrictions, a tank endorsement, and MEC.

Responsibilities

• Operate snowplow and heavy equipment for winter road maintenance.
• Clean the right of way and repair guardrails, fences, signs and luminaires.
• Perform traffic control and salt brine production.
• Be available for emergencies, weekends and holidays; season runs roughly mid-November to April.
