Job summary

The Montana Department of Transportation is seeking a full-time temporary snowplow driver for Lewistown, MT, with heavy equipment operation experience for winter road maintenance. Responsibilities include snow removal, right-of-way cleaning, guardrail and fence repairs, sign and luminaire maintenance, traffic control, and salt brine production.

Must be available for emergency weather conditions and willing to work weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• One year experience driving heavy trucks or operating construction equipment.
• Knowledge of highway maintenance and equipment operation; basic vehicle maintenance.
• Basic math, record keeping, and basic computer skills.
• Valid Montana CDL Class A Type II with no restrictions and tank endorsement; MEC.
• Live within 45 road miles of the work headquarters or relocate accordingly.

Responsibilities

• Snow removal and winter road maintenance.
• Clean the right of way and repair guardrails.
• Repair fences, signs, and luminaires.
• Control traffic and produce salt brine.
• Work weekends/holidays and during emergency weather conditions.
