Job summary

State of Minnesota is seeking Temporary Snow Plow Operators for multiple districts during the winter season. Positions are full-time, day shift, with weekend and holiday availability anticipated. Work locations include Ely, Virginia, Hibbing, and other district sites in Northeast Minnesota.

The role requires a MN CDL Class B with tanker endorsement, no air brake restriction, and the ability to report within one hour of call. Physical and drug Testing requirements apply. End date: 2027-04-07.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in snow and ice, road maintenance, or related activities.
• Completion of a Heavy Equipment Operation and Maintenance Program (60 credits/90 quarter credits) may substitute for one year of experience.
• Valid MN Commercial Driver’s License Class B with tanker endorsement; tanker endorsement within 2 weeks of hire; no air brake restriction.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate heavy equipment to perform snow plow duties.
• Maintain roadways and remove snow from roadways and shoulders.
• Apply anti-icing and de-icing chemicals on slippery stretches.
• Inspect and prepare winter equipment; clean equipment after storms.
• Perform pre-season route inspections and post-storm cleanup.
