Oregon Department of Transportation in Baker City seeks a Transportation Maintenance Specialist (Seasonal) to operate equipment and perform road and bridge upkeep. This 5‑month assignment supports the region’s maintenance crew, with opportunities to participate in emergency response and weather-related operations.

The role requires highway maintenance experience or related trade skills, with a CDL-A license preferred and a valid driving record.

Qualifications

One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work.
OR Two years of general landscaping, maintenance, mechanical, farming, logging, and/or construction experience or training.
Must be able to operate heavy and light equipment and perform routine maintenance.

Responsabilités

Operate a variety of heavy and light equipment to maintain and repair roadways and surfaces.
Assist with weather emergencies and operate snowplows and deicer trucks to clear roadways.
Perform minor surface repairs including pothole and concrete patching.
Clear debris, mow grass and spray roadside vegetation.
Maintain and repair fences, guardrails and milepost markers.
Maintain drainage systems and repair culverts and erosion.
Perform light maintenance including janitorial work and small carpentry.
