Job summary

State of Oregon, Department of Transportation in La Pine, seeks a Transportation Maintenance Specialist (Limited Duration). You will operate equipment to maintain roadways and respond to emergencies, with potential to become permanent. CDL eligibility and safety training are required.

The role includes repair work, vegetation control, and routine maintenance tasks across rural and urban routes, with opportunities for growth and union representation.

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work.
• Two years of general landscaping, maintenance, mechanical, farming, logging, and/or construction experience or training.

Responsibilities

• Respond to weather-related emergencies and operate snowplows, deicer trucks and other equipment to clear snow.
• Operate a variety of heavy and light equipment to maintain and repair road surfaces.
• Perform minor surface repairs including pothole and concrete patching.
• Clear debris and vegetation from roadways.
• Maintain fences, guardrails, drainage systems and milepost markers.
• Maintain drainage and culverts; repair erosion and ditches.
• Perform janitorial, landscaping, painting and light carpentry tasks.
