Job summary

The Oregon Department of Transportation in Bend is seeking two Seasonal Highway Maintenance Specialists to join the Bend maintenance crew. You will operate equipment to maintain and repair roadways, bridges, and related structures and assist with weather-related emergencies.

These six-month seasonal positions offer benefits, a safe multimodal transportation mission, and opportunities to work outdoors in varying conditions while supporting the traveling public.

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work.
• Two years of general landscaping, maintenance, mechanical, farming, logging, and/or construction experience or training.
• A valid CDL-A with tanker endorsement or the ability to acquire one within stated timelines.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment to maintain and repair roadways, highways, bridges and structures.
• Assist with weather-related emergencies and emergency cleanup.
• Perform routine maintenance including pothole patching, drainage work and roadside vegetation control.
• Adhere to safety protocols and respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
