Job summary

Oregon Department of Transportation in Pendleton is seeking seasonal Highway Maintenance Specialists to operate equipment and perform highway maintenance tasks. The roles span approximately six months from date of hire, with potential for recurring seasonal openings and eligibility for benefits.

The team maintains roads, bridges, and related infrastructure, handles weather-related emergencies, and supports cleanups after crashes or storms.

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work or two years in related fields.
• Experience with road maintenance, construction or similar training is preferred.
• Must have CDL-A with tanker endorsement eligibility within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of heavy and light equipment to maintain and repair roadways and structures.
• Assist with weather-related emergencies and snow/ice control.
• Perform minor surface repairs, debris removal, drainage, and vegetation management.
• Maintain fences, guardrails, and drainage systems; respond to emergencies as needed.
