Job summary

Lake County is seeking temporary road maintenance workers for December 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027. Duties include snowplow operation, traffic control, equipment maintenance, and asphalt repairs.

Work hours are Monday–Friday 6:30 am–3:00 pm with additional on-call shifts during off-hours, weekends, and holidays. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, CDL Class B with air brakes (Class A preferred), and a satisfactory driving record.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED; CDL Class B with air brakes required.
• Driving record must be satisfactory; Class A CDL preferred.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in extreme conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate snowplow trucks, salt spreaders, tractors and related equipment.
• Direct and control traffic during road maintenance and on-call operations.
• Maintain and service equipment; perform minor repairs as needed.
• Repair asphalt and concrete surfaces and patch shoulders.
• Remove debris and trim vegetation along roadways.
• Work at heights from ladders or scaffolding and perform heavy lifting.
• Follow safety protocols and work independently or in teams.
