Job description

Join to apply for the (Seasonal) Recreation Attendant role at Lake Metroparks.

This range is provided by Lake Metroparks. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Base pay range

$12.50/hr - $12.50/hr

PAY RATE: $12.50 per hour (up to 600 hours per year - 120 days per year).

Eligible part-time employees will receive up to a $5.75 per hour retention bonus for all hours worked from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Additionally, eligible seasonal employees will receive a $0.60 per hour seasonal bonus for all hours worked. Click here for details.

Candidates must be at least 16 years of age or older.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

Work activities in this position primarily involve the operation and maintenance of recreational facilities such as the pool area, food service, bicycle rental.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Monitors the Pool Area to assure the park visitor safety.
  • Properly ring in ticket sales for entry into the Pool Area.
  • Keeps grounds litter free.
  • Maintains established park rules and regulations.
  • Cleans buildings and restrooms at least daily or more often as needed.
  • Cares for surrounding shrubs and flower beds.
  • Ensures rental agreements are written up properly, deposit records are accurate, and money is handled properly.
  • Sets up equipment for rental; inspects for broken, damaged or worn parts; makes minor adjustments and repairs; takes apart and properly stores for the night. Be able to instruct the public on the proper and safe use of equipment.
  • Distributes and collects equipment.
  • Ensures ringing in food and beverage orders are accurate and money is handled properly.
  • Prepares food and beverage items.
  • Assists in the preparation of daily receipt reports.
  • Operates Point of Sale Computer system.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Ability to distinguish letters and symbols.
  • Ability to get along with co-workers, supervisors, and park visitors.
  • Ability to operate Point of Sale Computer system.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to traverse sandy, marshy, or wooded areas with even or uneven terrain.
  • Ability to work varied hours depending upon park demands.
  • Will be required to work assigned Special Events, Weekends, Evenings, and Holidays.
  • Will be required to adjust schedule to meet organizational needs.
  • Ability to perform essential duties.
