Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Seasonal Marine Field Worker for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, Haskin Shellfish Research Laboratory, Port Norris, New Jersey.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Assists with monitoring of Delaware Bay oyster fishery.
  • Monitors includes field collection aboard research and commercial fishing vessels as well as laboratory processing (measuring, shucking, oyster disease/pathology analysis) of oyster dredge samples.
  • Performs data entry and audit associated with these tasks will also be required.
  • Provides support as needed to additional projects by assisting with tasks like animal care, video analysis, and Living Shoreline installation.

Salary Details

$15.92 - $18.00 per hour

Minimum Education and Experience
  • High school/vocational school education or equivalent experience.
Certifications/Licenses

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field preferred and an interest in biology, and/or scientific/technical laboratory training or research experience.

  • Ability to lift over 50 lbs.
