Summary

Performs simple and routine work involved in the maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings, and related utilities, requiring the use of various trade practices such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, cement work, painting, and other related trades.

Duties
  • Performs routine maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings, equipment, and utilities.
  • Performs minor carpentry repairs using simple measures and hand tools, such as replacing broken planks, windows, hinges, latches, and catches.
  • Performs minor painting using brushes and rollers on projects where appearance is not critical, like staining picnic tables and trash barrels.
  • Performs minor plumbing repairs, such as tightening or replacing fittings and fixtures, replacing faucet washers, unplugging drains, and replacing gas bottles.
  • Cleans and services chemical toilets, restrooms, and other campground or visitor facilities, making minor repairs and referring problems to higher-graded workers.

Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Background investigation and favorable adjudication required.
  • Meetage and registration requirements for males.
  • Participation in the Direct Deposit program required.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate government or private vehicles required.
  • Uniforms provided; compliance required.
  • Minimum age: 18, or 16 with specific educational or employment status.
Qualifications

Must demonstrate knowledge and ability in:

  • Performing work with minimal supervision (Screen Out).
  • Interpreting instructions and blueprints.
  • Using and maintaining tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of materials, equipment assembly, repair, and technical practices.
  • Use of measuring instruments.
Screen Out

Experience in routine maintenance and repair using trade practices, with examples provided. Describe relevant experience in your application.

Volunteer Experience

Volunteer work counts toward experience. Include any relevant volunteer activities.

Education

No substitution of education for experience for Wage Grade positions.

This announcement may fill additional positions within 90 days of the referral certificate date. Salary is at the lowest step of the grade. Employment may be terminated at any time.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

Work may involve ladders, scaffolds, and heavy lifting, performed indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions with protective gear as needed.
