Seasonal Maintenance Technician

Salary: $17-$18 DOE

Job Description

The Seasonal Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a variety of park labor duties to maintain and repair park properties and equipment. Work is performed at a moderate, constant pace but may vary depending on the job's demands. Maintenance Technicians may perform duties at a medium-heavy work level, including lifting up to 75 lbs. frequently.

Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must have a valid Illinois driver's license with no revocations or suspensions within the last three years.
• A pre-placement physical is required.
• Ability to work 40 hours a week, including evenings, weekends, and during special events.

Essential Functions:

• Mowing park district turf.
• Operation of park district vehicles and machinery.
• General road repair such as asphalt patching.
• Turf maintenance, including fertilizing, seeding, aerating, and weed control.
• Planting and trimming of trees and shrubs.
• Repairing and installing park and playground equipment and site amenities.
• Sports field preparation, including dragging, rolling, and line marking.
• Removing garbage and refuse from parks and facilities.
• Routine maintenance of outdoor pools, including record keeping.
• Engaging positively and cooperatively with staff and the public.
• Routine cleaning, maintenance, and repairs of parks, facilities, and equipment.
• Participation in the Park District Safety Program and adherence to its directives.
• Providing professional, helpful, and pleasant interactions with the public, acting as a goodwill ambassador.
• Maintaining a professional and cooperative relationship with staff members.
