Job summary

County of Volusia is seeking Lifeguards for the Beach Safety Division. This is a seasonal, part-time, temporary position at various Volusia County beach locations dedicated to preventing injuries and drownings in public swimming areas.

Requirements include successful completion of recruit class, Emergency Medical Responder/First Responder certification, and the ability to swim 500 meters in under 10 minutes. Candidates must be 16+ and able to relocate as needed.

Qualifications

• Emergency Medical Responder/First Responder certification is required.
• Must pass 500m swim in under 10 minutes.
• Trainees must complete Lifeguard Field Training Operations and be at least 16 years old.

Responsibilities

• Maintains order and discipline among swimmers at assigned beach area.
• Rescues swimmers in distress.
• Performs resuscitation and administers medical aid when necessary.
• Relocates to other county locations as needed by operations.
• Adheres to all applicable laws and regulations.
