Job summary

Waypoint Analytical, a Nutrien subsidiary, is seeking a soil analysis technician to join our environmental lab team in Champaign, IL. The role focuses on preparing soil samples, operating instruments, documenting results, and maintaining a safe, efficient lab environment, with day shifts and opportunities to contribute to profitability through accurate testing.

We value candidates with 1–3 years in environmental labs and a high school diploma, willing to work 8 am–6 pm.

Responsibilities

• Prepare soil samples for testing procedures following SOPs.
• Operate and maintain scientific equipment/instrumentation.
• Document activities and report results accurately and concisely.
• Assist group leaders in ordering and inventorying consumables and parts.
• Ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance of lab equipment and work areas.
• Model safety as a core value in daily work.
• Other duties as required.

What You'll Do:

• Prepare soil samples for a wide variety of testing procedures, following outlined methodologies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Operate and maintain scientific equipment/instrumentation.
• Document activities and report results accurately and concisely.
• Assist group leaders and analysts in ordering and inventorying consumables, chemicals, and parts for instrumentation.
• Ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance of laboratory equipment and work areas.
• Model our core value of safety by enabling a culture in which you are actively contributing to a safe work environment.
• Other duties as required.

What You'll Bring:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-3 years of previous experience working in an environmental laboratory is preferred.
• Willingness and ability to work day shift (approx. 8 am-6 pm; variable hours worked per week depending on business need).
