The Yale Club of New York City is seeking a Kitchen Steward (Dishwasher/Kitchen Assistant) to maintain cleanliness and organization in the club's kitchen. You will handle dishwashing, cleaning tasks, and assist kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.

The role requires attention to hygiene standards, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and flexibility to cover early shifts including weekends. Prior kitchen experience is preferred; high school diploma is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience as a dishwasher or kitchen assistant preferred.
• Knowledge of proper dishwashing techniques and sanitation practices.
• Ability to handle a high volume of dishwashing and cleaning tasks efficiently.
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy loads.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Shift: 5AM - 2PM - Weekend required.

Responsibilities

• Operate commercial dishwashing machines or wash dishes, glassware, utensils, and cooking equipment by hand, ensuring cleanliness and sanitization.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, sinks, stovetops, ovens, and food preparation areas; sweep and mop floors and remove trash.
• Sort, store cleaned dishes and equipment in designated areas; keep items organized.
• Restock kitchen supplies and notify relevant personnel when inventory is low.
• Dispose of kitchen waste properly and maintain waste disposal areas.
• Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks as needed.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and report hazards or maintenance issues.
• Coordinate dishwashing and cleaning duties with the team to ensure efficiency.
• Adapt to changing work demands and other kitchen tasks as required (delivery, storage, etc.).
