Job summary

The Salvation Army in Springfield, IL is seeking a Kettle Driver to transport Bell Ringers, equipment, and donations during the Christmas Campaign while interacting with the public in a friendly and compassionate manner.

This temporary position involves local travel, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred; experience may be considered in lieu.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have a passion for fulfilling the mission and articulate it to others.
• Must pass pre-employment background inquiry and annual motor vehicle check with a valid driver’s license.
• Proficient knowledge of roads in the designated territory.

Responsibilities

• Transport Bell Ringers, equipment (kettles, aprons, badges, bells, kettle stands) and donations to and from kettle sites.
• Provide aprons, badges, kettles, and bells to Bell Ringers and collect at end of each shift.
• Conduct periodical site checks to ensure Bell Ringers are present.
• Secure monies always.
• Ensure vehicles are cleaned and fueled after each shift.
• Maintain positive work atmosphere with conflict management and professional communication.
• Maintain compliance in The Salvation Army's Safe from Harm Certification.
• Perform other duties as assigned related to Seasonal Christmas activities.
