Job summary

Manhattan Ice Academy is the learn-to-skate program of the Manhattan Parks and Recreation Department. This seasonal position runs during the rink season with lessons on Monday and Tuesday nights and Saturdays. The starting wage is $13.00/hour.

Applicants must be 16 years or older and may be asked to work weekends/holidays. Open until filled; background checks are required. Training will be provided, and staff must act professionally with skaters, parents, and the public.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of ice-skating technique, either figure or hockey.

Responsibilities

• Teach the activities of the skating lesson program.
• Follow directions from the MPRD supervisor, Ice Rink manager, and Skating Lesson supervisor.
• Regularly communicate with the lesson supervisor to ensure goals are met.
• Provide excellent customer service and reflect the MPRD’s mission.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with skaters, parents and staff.
