Job summary

The Nevada Department of Transportation seeks a Highway Maintenance Worker 2 in Glendale, Nevada. This is a continuing trainee level position with potential to progress upon certification and satisfactory performance.

Responsibilities include operating and maintaining a range of highway maintenance equipment, performing winter and summer maintenance, installing signs, managing traffic controls in work zones, and responding to emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work.
• Or one year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Worker I in Nevada State service.

Responsibilities

• Operate and perform preventive maintenance and minor repair on highway maintenance equipment.
• Establish traffic controls using accepted methods to reroute traffic or control traffic in maintenance zones.
• Remove snow with plows and anti-icing operations and manage salt/sand; operate related equipment.
• Install, repair, and replace roadway signs and signposts; maintain sign panels and lighting fixtures.
• Respond to accidents and emergencies and complete required forms and documentation.
