Job summary

The Nevada Department of Transportation is recruiting to fill the Highway Maintenance Worker IV position in Winnemucca, Nevada. This role supervises a 7/8 person crew and oversees road maintenance, winter operations, betterments, and emergency incident response.

Responsibilities include planning and scheduling routine maintenance, operating a range of highway maintenance equipment, training less experienced workers, and ensuring safety and compliance with NDOT standards.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Worker III in Nevada State service; or an equivalent combination.
• Ability to operate a variety of highway maintenance and construction equipment safely and efficiently.
• Capable of supervising a crew and coordinating maintenance tasks and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule routine maintenance activities including fence repair, guardrail repair, asphalt patching and repair, and concrete repair.
• Operate and oversee a range of highway maintenance equipment and lead crews in snow removal and seasonal maintenance.
• Establish traffic controls, monitor work quality, and ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures.
• Respond to emergencies, document incidents, and coordinate with law enforcement or other agencies as needed.
• Train and supervise Highway Maintenance Worker I/II staff and assist the supervisor in laying out roadway work.
