Job summary

Nevada Department of Transportation in Searchlight, NV is recruiting for a Highway Maintenance Worker 2 trainee underfill. The incumbent will perform routine maintenance on roadways, assist in winter operations, and support emergency response.

Training is provided to progress to Highway Maintenance Worker 3 upon certification and performance. The position involves operating equipment, performing traffic control, and maintaining road surfaces, drainage and signs in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work.
• OR one year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Worker I in Nevada State service.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of highway maintenance equipment and assist in winter maintenance operations.
• Install and repair roadway signs and markings as needed.
• Respond to emergencies and incidents, and document required reports.
• Maintain drainage facilities, shoulders, ditches, and roadside vegetation.
• Assist in snow removal, anti-icing, and brine-making activities.
