Job summary

Oregon Department of Transportation in Pendleton, OR is seeking seasonal Highway Maintenance Specialists to operate equipment, perform road repairs, and assist with weather-related emergencies. Positions last about 6 months with benefits eligibility and a first screening date of August 19, 2026.

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work.
• Two years of general landscaping, maintenance, mechanical, farming, logging, and/or construction experience or training.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy and light equipment to maintain and repair roadways.
• Assist with weather-related emergencies and operate snowplows and deicer trucks.
• Perform pothole and concrete patching and small inlay work.
• Maintain drainage systems, fences, guardrails, and milepost markers.
• May be required to respond after hours for emergency or weather-related purposes.
