Job summary

The Town of Barnstable is seeking a Seasonal Waterways Assistant within the Marine & Environmental Affairs department to support harbor operations, waterway services, pumpout, marina and mooring activities, and other related duties as required.

Requirements include High School coursework, experience dealing with the public, two years boating experience, a safe boating certificate or equivalent; MA class D driver’s license; weekend/holiday work; and being at least 18 years old.

Qualifications

• High School coursework, experience dealing with the general public, two years boating experience, safe boating certificate or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• MA class D driver’s license required.
• Weekend and holiday work required, hours vary.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Working knowledge of small boat operation and boat handling, waterfront operations/practices; safe boating certificate preferred.
• Ability to multitask in a high-paced environment and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily harbor program operations including waterway services, pumpout, marina, and mooring services.
• Perform related duties as required by the Marine & Environmental Affairs department.
