The Town of Danvers welcomes candidates to join our team for the part-time permanent position of Assistant Harbormaster. The Town of Danvers is a reputable Town on the North Shore, providing a supportive and welcoming environment for Town staff. This position is responsible for public safety, rescue, and recreational services in the waterways of the Town of Danvers. The Assistant Harbormaster will perform duties which require the exercise of considerable discretion, judgment, and initiative in enforcing applicable laws, and dealing with varied organizations and the public. The Town will consider any combination of relevant work experience, volunteerism, education, and transferable skills as qualifying unless an item in the qualification section of the job description is a required degree, license or certification: Must be at least 18 years of age as of the date of employment, possession of Valid Driver’s license required. A certified graduate from a full-time MPTC recruit academy, or Bridge Academy exemption from the Certification Standard requiring completion of a MPTC approved Recruit Officer Course preferred, current American Red Cross or American Heart Association CPR for Professional Rescuer certification, or the ability to obtain certification within two (2) months of employment, current Massachusetts Boating Safety Certificate or equivalent, or ability to obtain within two (2) months of employment. USCG Merchant Mariner Credential with OUPV or Master Endorsement preferred, current EMS First Responder certification pursuant to 105 CMR 170 preferred.
This is a non-union position (Grade 8) pay scale starting at $26.05 hourly, with the ability to move through scale (via step system) to the max step at $31.75/hourly. Hiring rate DOQ. Excellent benefits.
