Job summary

This recruitment will establish an employment list to fill current and any future vacancies within the Tulare County Fire Department. The anticipated life of the employment list is six months.

Current vacancies are with the Tulare County Fire Department located in various locations throughout Tulare County. Extra help positions have no benefits and may be used in multiple departments with varying hours. A pre-employment drug screen and background check may apply.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to completion of the 12th grade.
• Experience sufficient to perform essential duties; at least 18 years old.
• Knowledge of basic maintenance principles and safe work practices.
• Ability to operate basic office equipment and communicate effectively.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a California driver's license.
• Desirable certificates in wildfire training and first aid.

Responsibilities

• Assist in firefighting functions in wildland and emergency responses.
• Operate and maintain a variety of equipment.
• Perform heavy manual labor related to maintenance, construction, cleanup, and related areas.
• Use a variety of hand and power tools in performing duties.
• Engage in fire prevention activities including fuel breaks, roads, and trails.
