Job summary

Harvard University seeks a one-year term Shuttle Operator to support Cambridge/Allston campuses. The role operates a shuttle van, responds to online requests, assists passengers with mobility needs, and helps maintain safety and cleanliness of the vehicle.

You will communicate with a dispatcher, perform daily vehicle inspections, and support as part of the Passenger Transport Services Planning Team. The position runs 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday evenings, with a shift differential and

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Three to five years of related passenger transport experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, a clear speaking voice and solid customer service skills, including courtesy, flexibility, sensitivity, patience and humor.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a customer‑focused team environment required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate shuttle van to meet scheduled and on-demand passenger pick‑up requests.
  • Communicate on two‑way radio with dispatcher to receive instructions and confirm changes, additions, or deletions from route schedule.
  • Assist passengers with mobility impairments entering and exiting.
  • Perform daily safety inspections and complete vehicle condition reports.
  • Perform daily cleaning of vehicle interior including emptying trash receptacles, sweeping the floor, and dusting seating surfaces; refuel as needed.
  • Utilize on‑demand electronic technology to provide safe ride services at night.
  • May include occasional parcel delivery.
  • Participate as a member of the Passenger Transport Services Planning Team.
