Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Southern Territory is seeking an Education Coordinator - Seasonal to manage and enhance the Community Center's education programs in Charleston, SC. This temporary full-time role focuses on coordinating the education program, recruiting volunteers, and promoting reading initiatives.

You will report to the Executive Director and Program Coordinator, preparing monthly stats and collaborating with the After School satellite programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Social Sciences or Education or equivalent training/experience.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates the education program and provides quality and effective services to participants to support The Salvation Army Community Center's mission.
• Plans programs for the Education Department, subject to the Executive Director's approval.
• Assists in recruiting and training staff and volunteers.
• Promotes and stimulates membership in the department and organizes reading incentive programs and reading motivation.
• Makes monthly statistical reports to the Executive Director.
• Works with Satellite Center of The Salvation Army Community Center After School Program.
• Evaluate the program of the department.
• Makes initial visits to all schools represented at The Salvation Army Community Center.
• Develops programs for individual students with specific needs.
• Presents the program to each teacher.
• Trains helpers in tutoring skills.
• Monitors student and helper progress and makes necessary adjustments.
• Records and maintains data on school academics, behaviors and attendance.
