Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory seeks a Community Center Coordinator for the Anchorage area. You will oversee a broad range of programs, including education, recreation, arts and crafts, and physical education, with a focus on open gym hours and after‑school activities.

The role requires strong organizational and leadership skills, First Aid/CPR certification, and the ability to manage staff and volunteers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; may substitute substantial work experience for degree.
• Two years of supervisory experience, preferably in youth program planning.
• Experience with Salvation Army or similar youth programs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan and oversee administration of community center programs and activities.
• Establish objectives aligned with organizational goals and mission.
• Oversee day-to-day program activities and ensure standards and goals are met.
• Demonstrate leadership to ensure safety and development of members.
• Lead activities and serve as a positive role model.
• Develop outreach to attract participants and promote corps functions.
• Coordinate youth programs participation and staff training.
• Coordinate events such as Harvest Festival, Rally Day, camps, and VBS.
• Supervise volunteers and staff with clear communication and delegation.
• Provide transportation for youth to activities, ensuring safety compliance.
