Job summary

University of Oregon’s Oregon Institute of Marine Biology (OIMB) is seeking a Cook 1 to prepare meals for students, staff, and visitors. You will manage food storage, kitchen sanitation, and record meal counts, using various cooking methods.

The role reports to the Operations Manager and supports a small kitchen team in a dynamic academic environment. The position is seasonal with breaks aligned to academic terms and requires flexibility for night, weekend, and holiday shifts.

Qualifications

• Ability to utilize menus, recipes, worksheets, and usage reports.
• Ability to perform basic math to scale recipes.
• Record-keeping skills.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals according to menus, recipes, or verbal instructions.
• Store food properly and maintain kitchen cleanliness and safety.
• Maintain records including meals served counts.
• Assist other cooks as needed and support kitchen operations.
