Job summary

Mesa Public Schools seeks an Athletic Coach to lead, train and mentor student‑athletes in a specific sport. The coach develops game plans, fosters teamwork, discipline and personal growth while ensuring practices, games and activities align with school policies and health and safety standards.

Applicants must complete an online application with a valid IVP Arizona fingerprint clearance card, Coach Referral Form and required NFHS certificates. This is a seasonal, part-time role with stipend pay.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Current IVP fingerprint card.
NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certificate.
NFHS Concussion in Sports Certificate.
Experience as a player at high school or college level preferred.
Previous coaching experience preferred.
Understanding of sports rules, strategies, techniques, equipment and safety.

Responsibilities

Design and lead practices to improve individual and team performance.
Develop values of sportsmanship, discipline and teamwork.
Foster a positive, inclusive team culture and address conflicts.
Maintain and coordinate practice, game, and transportation schedules, scores, records and evaluations.
Enforce school and league rules for eligibility, safety and conduct.
Communicate effectively with parents, staff, booster club and community.
Assist with other assigned duties as appropriate.
