Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the following functions, in addition to other duties as assigned:

1. Keeps seafood area well stocked and appealing to meet customer requirements. Smiles and greets customers, makes suggestions, and provides information on seafood preparation. Takes orders for future delivery and helps fill special requests. Helps resolve customer concerns promptly and courteously.
2. Sets up displays and rotates product as needed. Ensures seafood is fresh, in saleable condition, with proper prices and signage. Handles spoiled, damaged, or near-expiration product according to company procedures. Removes non-saleable product to ensure quality.
3. Weighs and wraps merchandise for customers, applies stickers showing price and weight, and maintains logs to track freshness and quality. Adheres to all food and safety codes when handling products and using kitchen tools.
4. Responsible for general sanitation of the department. Follows cleaning schedules and department guidelines to keep work areas, equipment, counters, and display cases clean and compliant with health and OSHA standards. Properly disposes of trash.
5. Helps control inventory through proper ordering. Minimizes losses by returning products to refrigeration and reports shortages or overages to the manager.
6. May assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking down, and storing deliveries using a power jack or hand jack if trained. Training is provided.
7. May assist with baling cardboard or related duties if trained. Training is provided.
8. Ensures smooth department and store operation by cooperating with co-workers and superiors. Continuously seeks to improve job performance.
9. Utilizes all company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company-sponsored footwear.
10. May be called upon to assist in other departments as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, the associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with or without accommodations. The requirements listed below are representative of the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• High school diploma or GED preferred; no prior experience required.
