Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the following functions, in addition to other duties as assigned:

1. Keeps seafood area well stocked and appealing to meet customer requirements. Greets customers with a smile, makes suggestions, and provides information on seafood preparation. Takes orders for future delivery and helps fill special requests. Resolves customer concerns promptly and courteously.
2. Sets up displays and rotates products as needed. Ensures seafood is fresh, saleable, properly priced, and labeled. Handles spoiled, damaged, or near-expiration products following company procedures. Removes non-saleable products to maintain quality.
3. Weighs and wraps merchandise for customers, applies price and weight stickers, and maintains logs to track freshness and quality. Adheres to all food safety and personal safety standards when handling products and using kitchen tools.
4. Maintains general sanitation of the department by following cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure work areas, equipment, counters, and display cases are clean and meet health and OSHA standards. Properly disposes of trash.
5. Assists the manager in controlling inventory through proper ordering. Minimizes losses by returning products to refrigeration and reports shortages or overages to the manager.
6. May assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking down, and storing deliveries using a power or hand jack if trained. Training provided.
7. May assist with baling cardboard or related duties if trained. Training provided.
8. Ensures the smooth functioning of the department and store by cooperating with co-workers and supervisors. Continuously seeks to improve job performance.
9. Uses all company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company-sponsored footwear.
10. May be called upon to assist in other departments as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, the associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with or without accommodations. The following requirements are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed:

• High school diploma or GED preferred; no prior experience required.
