Seafood Clerk (Food Services)

Uncle Giuseppe's Gourmet Marketplace offers customers freshly delivered seafood, with a vast array of choices including fish, crab, lobsters, clams, oysters, scallops, and more. Our Seafood Chefs prepare gourmet seafood dishes for customers to grab and go for a home-cooked gourmet meal!

Our Port Washington Store is actively seeking a part-time Seafood Clerk to join its seafood team. This position requires some experience working with seafood in a retail setting.

The Seafood Clerk is responsible for displaying seafood products and related items in a careful, clean, neat, and efficient manner, ensuring all products are fresh, rotated, and well-stocked. The clerk will make recommendations to customers, address questions and concerns, and assist with seafood selections.

Responsibilities

1. Arrange, stock, and replenish counters and cases with seafood and ice.
2. Check and verify the freshness of seafood in live tanks; remove spoiled products and rotate merchandise.
3. Assist customers with seafood products, pricing, and service; suggest seafood options; prepare special fillets and cuts as requested.
4. Weigh, price, and package customer selections using scales, label, and wrapping machines.
5. Process merchandise according to guidelines and sanitation standards.
6. Maintain displays with ice, changing as scheduled.
7. Receive and unload seafood deliveries; store products properly.
8. Organize and maintain inventory of received merchandise.
9. Monitor temperatures of coolers, display cases, and tanks to ensure product quality.
10. Keep the department clean and safe, reporting hazards to management.
11. Operate and clean seafood equipment and tools, following safety and food handling practices.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience in a seafood department of a grocery or seafood store.
• Knowledge of seafood preparations and display techniques.
• Friendly, courteous, and prompt customer service skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and solve problems.
