Job summary

Platform Science, Inc. in Minnetonka, MN is hiring a Software Development Engineer in Test II (SDET II) to raise the quality and speed of software delivery.

You will design automated tests, strengthen testing practices, and partner with engineering and product teams throughout the lifecycle. The ideal candidate has strong software engineering skills, a quality-focused mindset, and can solve moderately complex testing challenges independently.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 3-4 years in software development, test automation, or quality engineering.
• Proficiency in Python or Java/C#/Ruby/JS/TS.
• Experience with Gherkin/BDD frameworks.
• Experience with mobile UI automation (Appium, Espresso, XCUITest, etc).
• REST API testing experience with OAuth-based auth flows.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, and Agile practices.
• Ability to troubleshoot distributed systems using logs, metrics, traces, and debugging tools.
• Strong communication across technical and nontechnical teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test cases and suites within established frameworks.
• Create test strategies covering functional, integration, regression, end-to-end, performance, and reliability testing.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and improve feedback speed and usefulness.
• Review requirements and designs to identify risks and testability concerns early.
• Diagnose failures across app, test, infra, and data layers with developers to root cause issues.
• Monitor quality metrics like defect trends and coverage; report findings.
• Reduce flaky tests and improve maintainability and execution speed of tests.
• Participate in code reviews and advocate testing best practices.
• Execute manual and exploratory testing for ELD compliance with hardware-in-the-loop setups.
