Job summary

SmartRent is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks supporting CI pipelines for platform and device testing.

You will collaborate with developers and QA to embed automation, drive testing strategies across functional, API, and end-to-end levels, and explore AI-enhanced testing approaches. A strong emphasis on scalable, reliable automation in a fast-paced environment is required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in test automation development using JavaScript or TypeScript, including hands-on experience with Playwright.
• 3+ years of experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, CircleCI) and version control systems (e.g., GitHub).
• Experience with AI tools such as Claude Code and Cursor.
• Solid understanding of QA tool development chains and environments.
• Expertise in black box and grey box testing, with testing tools and short release cycles.

Responsibilities

• Build and enhance automation frameworks to support scalable test coverage across platform and device functionality.
• Integrate automation into CI pipelines to support continuous quality validation.
• Devise improvements to current procedures and model future configurations.
• Incorporate AI tools into the test pipeline to shift automation earlier in development.
• Perform code reviews of automation tests to ensure quality and standards.
• Design and execute test strategies across functional, integration, API, and end-to-end testing.
