Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Seattle is seeking a Software Development Engineer II to help design and implement the data plane networking software that powers EC2 instances.

You will work on the networking stack that enables VPC, security policy enforcement, and scalable virtualization on custom hardware. You will write low-level systems code in C and Rust for real-time embedded environments, tackling protocols, packet processing, and reliability at scale, with sub-second latency

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems.
• 1+ year of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
• Experience programming in at least one language such as C, C++, Java, or Perl.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement data plane networking software on custom hardware across design through deployment and operations.
• Build and improve network virtualization systems delivering VPC connectivity, security policy enforcement, and performance isolation for EC2 customers.
• Investigate and resolve complex production issues across distributed embedded systems, driving root cause analysis and permanent fixes.
• Collaborate with partner teams across hardware, control plane, and ML platforms for end-to-end solutions.
