Position Summary

Plans, implements, and evaluates surgical patient care for perinatal patients in a timely and accurate manner.

Position Requirements

Formal Education / Training

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Respond to hospital within 1 hour for 'on call' duties
• Previous scrub tech experience or graduation from scrub tech school
• Scrub tech certification required
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire

Workplace Experience

Experience with Perinatal Health Care Team preferred.

Equipment and Skills

Ability to work under pressure, independently and dependently, applying basic nursing knowledge across various surgical specialties, including general, genitourinary, ophthalmologic, plastic, orthopedic, ENT, obstetric/gynecologic, vascular, and oral surgeries. Familiarity with equipment such as Amsco Flash Autoclave, network computer systems, Omnicell Medication System, and AT&T Language Line.

Physical Environment and Effort

• Work in a surgical unit with patients ranging from infants to elderly
• Prolonged standing, working up to 12 hours
• Push/pull objects up to 175 lbs
• Lift and turn patients up to 250 lbs with assistance

• Coordinate patient care effectively with the surgical team
• Prepare and organize equipment and supplies timely
• Maintain aseptic technique and sterile fields
• Handle medications and solutions safely
• Perform and communicate counts accurately
• Manage OR environment and sanitation policies
• Return equipment and prepare OR for subsequent cases
• Use supplies judiciously and document charges accurately
• Maintain position-specific qualifications
• Assist with staff development and training
• Communicate effectively and complete assigned duties promptly
• Maintain professional appearance reflecting safety and cleanliness standards
