Job summary

Coosa Valley Medical Center in Sylacauga, AL, is seeking a practical nurse or scrub technician to support surgical services. The technician will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and perform delegated tasks as part of the care team.

Ideal candidates have a nursing or scrub tech background, interpersonal skills with physicians and families, and are prepared for a short orientation to learn department policies.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing or recognized Scrub Technician School preferred.
• One to two years of clinical exposure in the surgical setting, or equivalent experience, preferred or required in lieu of formal training.

Responsibilities

• Technician functions under supervision of Registered Nurse and performs delegated tasks.
• Care partner to Registered Nurse with patient care for surgical patients provided collaboratively.

A Little About The Job....

• Technician functions under supervision of Registered Nurse and performs delegated tasks.
• Technician is care partner to Registered Nurse. Patient Care for surgical patients is provided collaboratively. Tasks performed are in compliance with department and hospital policies and procedures and within education preparation as well as Alabama Nurse Practice Act if an LPN.

Qualifications For The Job...

• Graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing or recognized Scrub Technician School preferred.
• One to two years of clinical exposure in the surgical setting, i.e. surgical assistant, patient transporter, instrument processing, decontamination, preferred or required in lieu of formal training.
• Must possess interpersonal skills sufficient to interact with physicians and families to elicit cooperation and allay apprehensions.
• Work requires three to six months orientation to acquire necessary familiarity with department and unit policies and procedures.
